3 Ways to Recover Deleted Text Messages on iPhone

Many iPhone users may have stored some important messages on their phones such as vouchers or some special messages your loved ones have sent you. If they are accidentally deleted by you or your children, you will often be annoyed. Any ways to get the deleted messages recovered? No worries at all, in fact, these deleted information can be recovered in three ways. The first method is to recover deleted text messages from iCloud. The second option is to back up through the iTunes software in advance and then restoring it to the mobile phone. The final method is to directly scan and recover the file for storing SMS on the iPhone through some data recovery software. Let’s dive into them one by one.

The Mechanism of SMS Recovery

Before guiding you through the detailed steps, let’s see why the deleted SMS can be recovered. Actually, after the mobile phone message is deleted, the data block is not immediately destroyed from the database file. And only when a new message is received, the data block is randomly covered. So when the real data file is deleted, the fragment file still exists in the database, so the real SMS content can be extracted from the fragment file. Based on these, deleted mobile phone text messages can be recovered.

Method 1: Recover SMS from iCloud backup

If you have backed up the messages on your iCloud account. That’s good news since you can directly recover from the iCloud backup.

So first make sure that you have turned on the iCloud backup through: Phone Settings -> Name -> iCloud -> iCloud Cloud Backup. When iCloud Backup is turned on, the phone will automatically back up the files while connecting to the WiFi network and while the phone has enough power. And also you need to make the iCloud storage has enough space.

After the backup, if there is a text message accidentally deleted, you can log into the iCloud. After putting in the apple id, check the backup SMS record and select the record to be restored and download to the mobile phone.

Method 2: Restore text message from iTunes backup

If there are some important SMS messages (such as loan documents) on the mobile phone that you are afraid that you might accidentally delete them, you can back them up to the computer in advance, by connecting the mobile phone to the computer and then opening the iTunes software on the computer. Then back up all the contents of the phone to the computer. Note: If you did not back up before deleting the SMS, please refer to Method 3 for SMS recovery.

After backup, just connect the phone to your computer again via USB cable, and click on the device icon in the upper left corner of the iTunes window and view your mobile device. Select the backup you want to restore and export to your phone.

Method 3. Through third-party data recovery tool
